Jul. 22, 2014 – AMERICAN FORK, Utah — LA Nails 1 will be closed July 24th, 2014 in observation of Pioneer Day and will reopen Friday July 25th for normal business.
Pioneer Day is a holiday unique to Utah. It celebrates the trek and entrance into the Salt Lake Valley by the Mormon leader Brigham Young on July 24, 1847. Salt Lake City itself celebrates with the Days of 47 Parade and other festivities.
The holiday has been celebrated since 1857 back when Utah was a territory. It is a long stand tradition in Utah puncuated by BBQ’s and fireworks.
La Nails 1 has been in American Fork since 1995 and under the current ownership since 2011.
Customers routinely order nail art to match holidays such July 4th with red white and blue flags, and Christmas with snow men, santa, and red and green themes. For Pioneer Day some clients come prepared with photos of their desired nail art which could include covered wagons, LDS symbols, and the Salt Lake Temple.
Not all businesses in Utah are closed during Pioneer Day. It’s not as big as the major National holidays so not everyone has the day off in which to relax and celebrate.
LA Nails is located at : 169 E 30 N, American Fork, UT 84003 and can be contacted at 801 756-1980

We get asked that question a lot. It seems some don’t know where the border between American Fork and Pleasant Grove is. The two cities do share a lot of streets. You could be in Pleasant Grove one minute and the next in American Fork and still be on the same street. I’ve always wondered what people consider their home town when their house sits on the border.
Our nail salon is not in Pleasant Grove. Sorry. Yes people have looked for ”nail salons Pleasant Grove” or “Pleasant Grove nail salons” on Google to find us and have been disappointed. LA Nails is actually in American Fork, UT but we are not that far from Pleasant Grove City.
Of course we do welcome all our Pleasant Grove clients of which we have many. When you come for a pedicure or manicure you’ll get top notch service no matter what city you hale from.
Our staff loves to do nails, and they love to do feet. There is a lot of satisfaction in doing a good job and I hope we always make our clients happy.
One of the surprises of operating a nail salon is the vast area from which clients come. Orem, UT is no exception. Our nail salon is in American Fork, but we see many clients from Orem on a regular basis. Why would that be?
Frankly we are not sure. I suppose we should ask them. A lot of Orem-ites have told us they bypass other nail salons in Orem and come to ours because they like the service better. That’s a very good feeling but I’m not sure it’s true of every client. Some perhaps live in Orem and work in American Fork and before or after work they will get a manicure or pedicure. Rather than go to a spa in Orem they simply drop by our salon. That would make sense.
Others could be looking in the Yellow Pages for Orem nail salons and happen to be attracted to our salon for some reason. It could be when sitting in their favorite hair salon in Orem or tanning salon in Orem and using their smartphone they discovered our website. Who knows! In any case rather than going to a nail salon in Orem we know for sure they are going to a nail salon (ours) in American Fork.
So how far is American Fork from Orem? If you take the furthest distance from our salon to edge of South Orem it’s around 10 miles. It would take about 20 to 25 minutes on the back road like Geneva road to get to the salon. While in American Fork you could shop at Fresh Market, which we are right next to, or go to Walmart, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes, and even do your laundry. You could eat at many nice restaurants like Thai Village, or Texas Roadhouse and even get coffee at Starbucks.
Sure it’s an extra drive to American Fork, but if you haven’t tried our salon you owe it to yourself to make the drive and experience what you are missing. I know you like us and you’ll like the vast number of merchants in the American Fork area that would make your trip extra worth-while.
