Essie and Reem Acra Just Dropped a Wedding Nail Polish Collection

Anything for that ring selfie. Essie, the brand behind some of your favorite salon colors including “Tying The Knot” and “Ballet Slippers,” has a new, limited-edition, bridal-specific nail polish collaboration with the one and only Reem Acra.

The pretty partnership between the legendary wedding dress designer and Essie includes the debut of six new hues. A release to The Knot reveals that the palette itself was inspired by “intimate moments shared between a bride and the women closest to her.” (Think, bridesmaids, family members and noteworthy guests.)

“In all my designs I want to bring an element of magic,” Acra said in a separate Q&A shared with us. “Imagine opening up a jewelry box and discovering what’s going on inside… Her grandmother, her mother, her dearest friends. They are sitting in a room getting ready for the wedding. It will be a royal affair–a grand party celebrating the marriage. But for now, there is a shared excitement among them and such anticipation for what’s to come.”

Colors for this collaboration are given the Essie name treatment, such as “Picture Perfect,” “Getting Intricate,” “You’re Golden,” “Handmade of Honor,” “Moments to Mrs.,” and “Forever Family.” Each polish includes a hint of shimmer and metallic, with the exception of “Getting Intricate,” which is a solid interpretation of “Something Blue.”

“As a designer I was intrigued to partner with a nail brand like Essie to bring my bridal design aesthetic to life in a collection of luxurious polishes,” Acra added. “As someone who works with their hands as part of my craft, I was impressed by the long-lastingness of the range and the precision of the application. This attention to detail is part of my design DNA, so the fit was natural.”

The designer recommends using the 2-step Essie gel system by starting with two coats of color. Then, she recommends topping off the color of choice with a top coat. “All the colors we designed for the collection are at the core of the Reem Acra brand,” she added in the Q&A. However, if Acra had to select one particularly outstanding hue from the line, she would choose “You’re Golden” for a very good reason.

“There is never a collection of mine without the gold color,” she said. “It is my signature shade. It is regal. After all it also symbolizes my jewelry box world… I really love ‘You’re Golden’ and the way the light reflects in it.”

For the bride who wants to go with a non-traditional nail color, Acra’s word of advice is simple: Be unabashedly true to you. “I always like to say to a bride, ‘Be yourself.’ But with so many decisions to make for a wedding it can be very overwhelming,” she mused. “My advice: there is a place for traditional, but allow yourself to be daring and be different, why not a new color you have not tried before that could be your something new? I wanted to ensure all the of my gel couture wedding collection shades offer traditional to modern choices for everyone attending a wedding.”

The new wedding collaboration between Essie and Reem Acra is sold at $11.50 per bottle, and will be available online and in stores starting March 2018. Check out the complete collection below.
